Opened in 1886, closed in 2012. It had last been run by Robert A. Prater, who helped create the town’s volunteer fire department. I wish I had the chance to stop by and visit while it was still open. He sounds like he was a good man, and reading his obituary reminds me very much of my own grandfather who ran the town grocery and was a major part of the local volunteer fire department in his own town.
